About My Getting Things Done
There are 5 Databases in this template
- Capture
This is a standalone database with no links or relation to others. It is just a place for taking notes, bookmarks, screenshots, and reference/material placeholders. I move items from this database to Inbox or reference by simply dragging and dropping in Clarify & Organize or using “Move to..” and selecting the destination.
- Inbox
- List of actionable items, next actions, and tasks.
- This database is in relation to Projects, Contexts-Tags, and References.
- Use the “Status” property to manage Todo, Doing, Done, and Archive stages of tasks/actions.
- Projects
- List of projects in GTD contexts. A project is anything we want to do that requires more than one action step.
- This database is in relation to Inbox (Tasks/Actions), Contexts-Tags, and References.
- Use the “Status” property to manage Not started, Active, On hold, Done, and Archive stages of projects.
- The page level contains the “Default project template”. The template will populate the list of Actions/Tasks and References in relation to that project.
- Contexts / Tags
- In GTD, a context defines what you need to be able to carry out an action, and it can be a place, a tool, or a person.
- In My GTD notion template, I also use this field to categorize reference, such as meeting notes, project materials, research, etc.
- This database is in relation to Inbox (Tasks/Actions), Projects, and References.
- Use the “Group” property to add different types of tags/contexts. This makes it easier for you to create different views/filters/grouping views in different use cases.
- The page level contains the “Default template”. The template will populate the list of Actions/Tasks, Projects, and References in relation to that context/tags.
- References
- In GTD, references are things that fall into your hands, do not require any action but contain useful information for some of your actions/projects/tasks or some future project.
- This database is in relation to Inbox (Tasks/Actions), Projects, and Contexts/Tags.
Views, Filter, and Sort
- In this template, I only create or add what I defined as what I really use in my real life.
- Make it yours. Feel free to add/edit as you see fit to how you work and execute GTD.
